Bankole told the News Office of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Ibadan that half of the general population with periodontal (gum) ailments don't know that they have the test.
She characterized periodontal sicknesses as diseases of the structures around the teeth, which incorporate the gums, tendons and alveolar bones.
As per her, periodontal ailments go from basic gum irritation to genuine malady, which results in significant harm to the delicate tissue and bone that help the teeth.

Bankole said that despite the fact that young people infrequently have a periodontal ailment, they can create gingivitis, the milder type of gum infection.
The dental specialist said that gum infection, which is the most widely recognized of the periodontal illnesses, created when the plaque was permitted to develop along and under the gum line.
The dental master recognized microscopic organisms as the fundamental driver of periodontal diseases.
